Local man arrested
in Tigerland shooting
Police arrested a 22-year-old man Thursday in the Tigerland Avenue shooting of an 18-year-old man who is now on life support, a police spokesman said.
Cpl. L’Jean McKneely said George Triplett, 413 Elmer St., shot the man in the face over “drugs and robbery” in an apartment at 4707 Tigerland Ave.
Several witnesses identified Triplett as one of two men dressed in Dominoe’s Pizza uniforms who knocked on the victim’s door, waited for him to open it, forcibly entered and shot him, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
Triplett was booked into Parish Prison on counts of attempted first-degree murder, booking records show.

ID sought on victim
found in burning car
Authorities were still trying to confirm late Thursday the identity of a fatal traffic accident victim found inside a burning car, police said.
The car crashed in the 800 block of Convention Street and the fire was reported at 5:45 a.m. Thursday, Capt. Elton Brown said.
After Baton Rouge firefighters extinguished the fire, police found the driver’s body inside the car.

East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested a 34-year-old man Thursday accused of having consensual sex with a 13-year-old girl, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
The affidavit says Jason Keyauna Hayes had sex with the underage girl twice.
An anonymous person called the girl’s father to report the acts and the girl confirmed Hayes’ identity to detectives, the affidavit says.
Hayes, 13943 Azalea Park, was booked into Parish Prison on two counts of carnal knowledge of a juvenile, booking records show.
19-year-old arrested on count of robbery
Police arrested a 19-year-old man Wednesday accused of robbing a man of $3,500 at gunpoint whom he had arranged to sell a car to on Craigslist, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
The affidavit says Darrick Bernard Turner talked with the victim over the phone and agreed to meet the victim in the parking lot of Waffle House, at 10389 Airline Highway.
When the two met, Turner pointed a gun at the victim and said, “Give me the money or I will kill you,” the affidavit says.
It was discovered that Turner, who was identified by surveillance video, was also wanted in the March armed robbery of $1,000 from an alleged prostitute at the Red Roof Inn, 11314 Board Walk Drive, according to an arrest warrant filed April 25.
Turner was booked into Parish Prison on two counts of armed robbery, booking records show.
BR man accused of
A 44-year-old man admitted to police that he had raped a 13-year-old girl approximately 100 times, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
The affidavit says Randy Smith raped the girl repeatedly for three years.
Smith, 11003 Elain Drive, was booked into Parish Prison on counts of aggravated rape, booking records show.
Four drivers booked
on EBR DWI counts
Authorities arrested at least four people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and 2:30 p.m. Thursday, booking records show.
Those booked and the counts against them:
- Nicholas Bergeron, 20, 1086 Carney Road, Zachary, first-offense DWI, possession of alcohol in vehicle and failure to maintain control.
- Steven Comeaux, 23, 12376 E. Millburn Ave., first-offense DWI, insurance required, failure to signal and reckless driving.
- Leah Hill, 21, 550 Lee Drive, first-offense DWI, failure to signal and improper turning.
- Bryce Stewart, 19, 2230 Edward Ave., Gonzales, first-offense DWI and improper lane usage.
