U.S. marshals, police nab slaying suspect
Police and U.S. marshals arrested a man Tuesday accused of killing a woman and shooting her niece in the leg July 25 in the 1800 block of Ryder Street.
Devon Livous, 28, 1149 Flora Lane, will be booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count each of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder, police spokesman Cpl. Tommy Stubbs said in a news release.
Livous is accused in the slaying of Raolatu Alowonle, 28, and the wounding of Alowonle’s 11-year-old niece, police have said. Alowonle died at a hospital.
U.S. marshals found Livous in the 3000 block of Congress Boulevard, police said.
Deputies seek help
in Circle K robbery
East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies are seeking information about a man who robbed the Circle K, 14940 Airline Highway, of cash just before 3 a.m. Friday.
The man, who bought a bag of chips before the robbery, left in a black Chevrolet Impala that drove toward Highland Road, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks said.
The robber was described as a tall black man weighing between 250 and 300 pounds, Hicks said. A specific height was not given.
The robber is believed to be between 40 and 50 years old and was wearing black jean shorts, a blue T-shirt and black shoes, Hicks said.

Police book man, 24, in rape of 4-year-old
Police arrested a 24-year-old man Monday accused of raping a 4-year-old girl on July 22, according to an arrest warrant.
Glenn Leroy Spears, 650 N. Ardenwood Drive, Apt. 712, was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count of aggravated rape.
The girl was taken to a hospital after she complained to a family member that her genitalia was hurting, the warrant said.
Man with a knife robs Dollar General
A man armed with a knife robbed the Dollar General, 8656 Goodwood Blvd., of cash at 8:30 a.m. Sunday and ran away, police spokesman Cpl. L’Jean McKneely said Tuesday in a news release.

Craigslist ad sets up robbery, police say
Police are looking for a man accused of robbing another man of cash at gunpoint July 13 outside an Airline Highway store.
The victim told police he agreed to meet the suspect, who was caught on surveillance camera, at the convenience store at 10389 Airline Highway at 3 p.m. after contacting the suspect about a
Craigslist advertisement for a car, police Cpl. Tommy Stubbs said Tuesday in a news release.
The suspect is described as an 18- to 25-year-old black man, 5 feet 9 inches and 150 to 160 pounds, Stubbs said.

Authorities book 2 on suspicion of DWI
Authorities arrested at least two people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Monday and 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, booking records show.
Those booked and the counts against them:
- John Patin, 43, 9438 Dorchester Drive, second-offense DWI, driver’s license required or expired, insurance required and wrong way down a one-way street.
- Dennis Stewart, 55, 8633 Joor Road, first-offense DWI, license plate required and speeding.
