Four arrested in mailbox vandalism

West Feliciana Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested four men accused of vandalizing at least 42 rural mailboxes, Sheriff J. Austin Daniel said.

The mailboxes were destroyed late Sunday and early Monday on Sage Hill, Jones-Vaughn Creek and Joe Daniel roads, Audubon Lane and La. 965, Daniel said.

Deputies caught the four when a woman called the Sheriff’s Office to report that someone was beating on her mailbox early Monday, Daniel said.

Matthew Morgan, 18, 12372 Starhill Trace; Alex Funderburg, 19, 11976 Indigo Lane; and Ty Gilleon, 18, 4193 Richmond St., all of St. Francisville, and Chance Edgens, 19, 23045 Elberta Lane, Zachary, face multiple felony counts of criminal damage to property, Daniel said.

They also were booked with illegal possession of alcohol by a person under the age of 21, Daniel said.

The sheriff said the four also told investigators they were involved in a rash of mailbox vandalism in the parish about two weeks ago.

Not only should these punks be sent to "real man's" jail they should be required to buy the new mailboxes and go out and replace them in the noon day sun.

"The sheriff said the four also told investigators they were involved in a rash of mailbox vandalism in the parish about two weeks ago." Their parents must be so proud....albeit they are all adults.
