Motorcycle crash kills one, police say

A 66-year-old man died Sunday in a motorcycle crash on South Choctaw Drive, a police spokesman said.

Nicholas Albano, 11062 Chalice Drive, was thrown from his 2007 Harley-Davidson Sportster at about 11:30 p.m. after he failed to negotiate a curve in the 13700 block of South Choctaw and hit a concrete barrier, Cpl. Tommy Stubbs said.

Albano hit another concrete barrier before landing in a parking lot, Stubbs said. Albano was taken to a local hospital where he died.

Stubbs said Albano was wearing a helmet, and alcohol
and speed do not appear to have been a factors in the crash.

in man’s shooting

Sheriff’s detectives are looking for a man accused of shooting another man Sunday evening after trying to rob him of his cellphone, a sheriff’s spokeswoman said.

Leo Terrell Paul, 17, is wanted for attempted first-degree murder, spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks said in a news release.

Paul went to a friend’s home on Glen Echo Drive and demanded the friend’s cellphone, Hicks said.

Paul shot the man after he refused to give up the phone, she said.

The victim was hit in the leg and was taken to a hospital for treatment, Hicks said.

Detectives believe Paul fled the scene in a white sport utility vehicle, possibly with commercial tags, she said.

@Tradewinns: Nor do i condone criminal activity but I draw the line at assessing a monetary fine on his family and neighbors until they give him up. I believe that borders on Gestapo tactics. Once caught the authorities should do a better job of making sure that all criminals pay adequately for their crimes.

i still believe albanio was run off the road by an unattentative or just plain mean motorist. motorcyclist don't miss a curve in the road, that's the best riding.

gvm, believe me if one of my neighbors, associates or friends participated in a criminal act, i'd be on the phone to the police immediately. i do not believe in criminal activity of ANY sort, illegal drugs to murder, i'd call! the picture is in the paper and should be on TV. if you don't take the paper, one of your neighbors or family members do, and they will inform you. there are NO SECRETS in these type cases.

@Tradewinns: will you be willing to subject yourself to the same type of treatment when the criminals in your neighborhood go on the lam?

"The suspect in the photograph is described as a black man wearing a white tank top and shorts". that is an excellent picture of the "suspect". if he is not caught by someone turning him in by noon today, assess a monitary fine on his family and his neighbors. they know him.
