Walker man, 66, dies in one-vehicle wreck

A Walker man died in a single-vehicle wreck Saturday when he was partially thrown from his pickup after it veered off the road, State Police said Sunday.

Larry E. Dunlap, 66, Walker, was driving a 1996 Isuzu pickup east on La. 1025, or Arnold Road, in Livingston Parish when he entered a left-hand curve about 6 p.m. Saturday, Trooper First Class Russell Graham said in the news release.

Dunlap’s truck careened off the road to the right and slammed into a ditch and culvert before stopping abruptly, the release said.

Dunlap was not wearing a seat belt and was partially thrown from the truck. He was airlifted to Ochsner Health Center where he died, Graham said.

Troopers suspect Dunlap was impaired and submitted a sample of his blood to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis, the release said.
