17-year-old arrested in Baker shooting
BAKER — Police arrested a 17-year-old youth Wednesday, who is accused of shooting at a group of people earlier in the day, missing a juvenile in the group by about 3 feet, Police Chief Mike Knaps said.
Knaps said the shooting stemmed from an earlier disturbance and fistfight among a group of girls on Groom Road in front of the Camellia Trace apartment complex.
After the fight was over, Jecody Ricardo Spann, 4305 Greenwood Lane, Baker, allegedly opened fire at a group in the Buffet Street area of the Heritage Court neighborhood, Knaps said.
Detectives booked Spann at Parish Prison early Thursday on two counts of attempted first-degree murder and illegal use of a firearm, the police chief said.
