Ex-Iberia jailer gets child porn sentence

LAFAYETTE — A federal judge Wednesday sentenced a former jailer with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office to 12 years in federal prison for receiving child pornography.

U.S. District Judge Richard T. Haik sentenced Daniel J. Bourque, 33, of Erath, who pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography in February.

Bourque was arrested in November after investigators searched at his home at 12603 Tupelo Circle in Erath. Investigators seized five computer hard drives, cell phones and various compact discs, which contained about 15 videos of child pornography and about 630 images of child pornography.

The investigation revealed that Bourque downloaded the images from the internet, according to documents contained within his plea agreement.

Haik also sentenced Bourque to 15 years of supervised release following his confinement, according to a U.S. Attorney’s Office news release.

State Police and the FBI investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney James T. McManus prosecuted the case.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) encourages the public to report suspected child predators and any suspicious activity through its toll-free hotline at (866) 347-2423. The hotline is staffed around the clock by investigators.
