Suspect identified
in May 14 slaying

East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s detectives are looking for a man accused in a May 14 shooting death on Oak Park Drive, a sheriff’s spokeswoman said.

Detectives said Roman Montrell Trosclair, 28, 7263 Maplewood Drive, shot and killed Dederick Droze, 24, Casey Rayborn Hicks said.

Droze and another man picked up Trosclair on May 14, and they drove to a convenience store in the 6000 block of Oak Park Drive, Hicks said.

After leaving the store, Trosclair fired shots at Droze and the other man, Hicks said. Droze died at the scene and the other man was treated for critical injuries, Hicks said.

Detectives identified Trosclair using surveillance video from a nearby convenience store, Hicks said.

3 booked with DWI
in EBR Parish Prison

Authorities arrested at least three people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, booking records show.

Those booked and the counts against them:

  • Lucia Combetta, 48, 10272 Langston Ave., Denham Springs, second-offense DWI and headlights required.
  • Ashley Weems, 30, 18540 W. Lake Terrace Drive, first-offense DWI and improper lane usage.
  • Christopher Miears, 38, Route 1, Comanche, Okla., first-offense DWI and failure to signal.
