Baton Rouge man, 24, accused in girl’s rape

A Baton Rouge man accused of raping an 8-year-old girl in February was arrested Wednesday, according to an arrest warrant.

Gary Sheppard, 24, 6625 Vineyard Drive, was booked by police with aggravated rape, Parish Prison records show.

According to the warrant, Sheppard raped the girl in the bedroom of her father’s home while she cried, screamed and told him to stop.

The victim told police Sheppard threatened to kill her and her parents if she told anyone, according to the warrant.

Police: Craigslist ads part of theft scheme

Police arrested a 32-year-old man accused of running a scam on Craigslist, according to a news release.

Police said Charles Hilliard had, on at least two occasions, advertised his services on Craigslist as “To Hire a Mover,” then stole some of his customers’ possessions while helping them move, the release says.

Hilliard, 11311 S. Walker Court, will be booked on two counts of felony theft, police said.

Investigators believe there may be other victims in the Baton Rouge area.

Police seek help to ID person of interest

Detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying a person of interest in the Monday shooting death of a man found dead in a car, according to an East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office news release.

Dederick Droze, 24, 5434 Winter Ave., was found dead inside a car in the 6000 block of Oak Park Drive. A second victim was transported to a hospital with serious gunshot wounds, spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks said. A man was seen running from the scene, according to the release.

Authorities book 2 on suspicion of DWI

Authorities arrested at least two people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and 2:30 p.m. Thursday, booking records show.

Those booked and the counts against them:

  • Kathryn Miles, 21, 1720 Nicholson Drive, first-offense DWI, improper lane usage and reckless driving.
  • John Mundinger, 30, 1751 Potwin Drive, second-offense DWI, reckless operation of a vehicle and improper lane usage.

sheppard needs to be physically castrated. not because it is sensationalism, but because there has never been a case of child molestation where the criminal is "cured". so to prevent this from happening to future children, he should be "fixed". NOTHING ELSE WILL WORK!
