BR officer involved in Choctaw Drive shooting

A Baton Rouge police officer was involved in a shooting about 8:40 p.m. Wednesday near the Piggly Wiggly supermarket in the 3800 block of Choctaw Drive, said Cpl. Tommy Stubbs.

The suspect, who may have been hit by bullets, escaped the scene, Stubbs said.

The officer was not injured.

It was not immediately known what the suspect was accused of or who fired the first shot, Stubbs said.

No further details were available late Wednesday.
