Franklin man charged in Tuesday bank heist

Jeanerette police officers arrested a 37-year-old Franklin man late Tuesday and accused him of robbing the Iberia Bank branch on West Pinhook Road in Lafayette earlier that afternoon, Lafayette police said.

Officers identified Claude James Hebert from surveillance footage taken from the bank, Lafayette police spokesman Cpl. Paul Mouton said in a news release.

Authorities said Hebert was armed with a small revolver when he entered the bank at 2110 W. Pinhook Road at 1:30 p.m.

Hebert was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on one count of armed robbery, according to online jail records.
