Fire destroys house
on Cadillac Street
Firefighters are investigating the cause of a Thursday morning fire that destroyed a house on Cadillac Street, a Fire Department spokesman said.
Firefighters were called to 4848 Cadillac St. at 3:36 a.m., Robert Combs said. When they arrived, nearly 75 percent of the house was in flames.
No one was home at the time of the fire and no one was injured, but the house was destroyed, Combs said.
Investigators are trying to determine how the fire started, Combs said. Preliminary evidence indicates it started in the back of the home.

Bullet strikes woman
in stopped vehicle
A bullet struck a 52-year-old woman Tuesday night as she was driving a pickup on South Choctaw Drive, a police spokesman said.
The victim said she was eastbound in the 8900 block of South Choctaw and had stopped in a turn lane to turn left onto Oak Villa Boulevard when the driver’s side window shattered and she felt a pain in her neck, Cpl. L’Jean McKneely said.
A 55-year-old passenger then drove the truck to their original destination and called EMS. The victim had a bullet lodged in her neck muscle and was transported to a hospital. Her injuries weren’t life-threatening, McKneely said. The passenger wasn’t injured.
There’s no motive or indication of where the bullet came from, he said.
