49-year-old booked in 1998 BR rape case
A man accused of raping a woman while he pointed a weapon in her back 13 years ago in Baton Rouge has been arrested, an arrest warrant says.
Glen Sparks, 49, 1630 Prison Road, Cottonport, was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Tuesday on a count of aggravated rape, booking records show.
Before being booked, Sparks was at Avoyelles Parish Correctional Center in Cottonport in an unrelated sexual assault case, the warrant says.
DNA taken from the scene in Baton Rouge matched DNA from Sparks, leading to his arrest, the warrant says.
According to the warrant, Sparks allegedly put a rug over the victim’s head, pointed a sharp weapon in her back and raped her on June 16, 1998, the warrant says. He then took the woman’s roommate’s bicycle and left.
Two drivers booked
on EBR DWI counts
Authorities arrested at least two people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, booking records show.
Those booked and the counts against them:
- Lucia Combetta, 48, 10272 Langston Ave, Denham Springs, first-offense DWI, headlights required and improper lane usage.
- Meagan McDaniel, 25, 3359 Morning Glory Ave., first-offense DWI, reckless operation of a vehicle and improper lane usage.
