Woman struck by float, injured during Spanish Town Mardi Gras parade

A pedestrian was struck by a float during the Spanish Town parade Saturday afternoon and taken to a hospital for treatment, authorities said. The nature and extent of her injuries were not immediately known.

The woman was struck around 1:45 p.m. as the float passed along Lafayette Street between Florida Street and Laurel Street, said EMS spokesman Mike Chustz.

It is unclear what happened to cause the incident, Chustz said. He said EMS transported her to a local hospital.
