Letter: Apply Declaration of Independence to Obama administration

The Declaration of Independence was printed in The Advocate on July 4, and I was very happy to read it again and refresh my memory. Some items jumped out at me as being very near to our present situation under President Barack Obama as we did at that time under King George. Here are a few.

“He has refused to Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public Good.”

“He has obstructed the Administration of Justice by refusing to assent to laws for establishing Judiciary powers.”

“He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our Constitution and acknowledged by our laws.”

“He has imposed taxes on us without our consent.”

“He has altered fundamentally the form of our Government.”

“He has declared himself invested with the power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.”

Does any of this sound familiar?
