Letter: Praise for drainage work

I have never restrained my criticism when I felt that our public servants were amiss in their duties, so it is only fair that I praise them for a job well done.

A couple of weeks ago, Livingston Parish Gravity Drainage District No. 2 (Watson) came to our street to clean out and deepen some of the ditches, including one across my property. They listened to what I and other residents had to say about our problems and addressed them.

After the first small rain, I noticed that the ditch on my property needed another 50 feet or so of cleaning. One of the supervisors looked at it and sent equipment back to correct it.

The best service we got was the clearing out of blockages downstream from us.

In the past 24 hours, we have had several inches of rain in our area, but the water level never even got into the street. In the past, the same amount would have had us worrying about it getting into our homes!

Thanks to all the people at Gravity Drainage.
