Letter: Support engineering

A news conference was held recently for the Patrick F. Taylor Hall on the LSU campus. The governor announced that the LSU College of Engineering had met, and exceeded, his challenge to raise $50 million in private fundraising to be matched by the state of Louisiana. This initiative, an innovative idea of Gov. Jindal’s, is unique in providing financial support to address a need of one of our public universities.

As co-chairman of that initiative, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the governor for initiating this challenge and for his confidence in our committee to meet the goal. I also applaud him for recognizing the positive impact this project will have on the future education of the youth of our state and for providing the much-needed manpower for the expansion of economic development in Louisiana.

Thank you, Gov. Jindal.
