Southerners give more to charities, attend religious services more often, are known for friendliness and hospitality, and tend to serve in the military more than people in other states. Southerners tend to be more conservative, more pro-life, more pro-Second Amendment, and favor right-to-work more. Many of the attributes of Southerners are “sins” to those who worship in the religion of liberalism.
A liberal think tank, the Center for American Progress, condemned Southern states for their treatment of women.
CAP’s political agenda includes free, government-provided contraceptives and government-provided abortions. One of CAP’s vice presidents said, do not expect CAP to be objective.
CAP believes that government-provided contraceptives and abortion or the easy killing of an unborn baby equates to good treatment of women, and equates taking a stand to save the life of an unborn baby or having a religious belief against government-funded abortions and contraceptives as hostility toward women.
The CAP survey was dishonest in blaming states for the broken homes, single mothers and violence against women because many of these problems are related to liberal policies.
Government assistance programs intended to alleviate poverty have not lifted people out of poverty, but have been disastrous for many women. Such programs may encourage the wrong behavior, such as abandoning the responsibility of caring for women and children, and rewarding irresponsible behavior, such as providing more support for single mothers.
As a result, many women are single mothers, in a permanent state of poverty and vulnerable to violence.
Women having legitimate complaints about discrimination in salaries, employment or advancement in politics can turn to the legal system for a remedy.
CAP condemned states using a biased survey that assumes that all women place their careers above being a mother and a wife.
Comparing statistics of Southern states to hard-core, liberal states is like comparing apples to oranges. The statistics do not consider choices women make.
CAP condemns states for violence against women without regard to who commits the violence or what causes the violence. Crime statistics show that violent crimes are rampant in Louisiana’s major urban areas, while most rural areas of Louisiana are relatively crime-free. The cities have suffered the most from unintended consequences of government welfare programs and are typically governed by liberal Democrats.
“News” from the Center for American Progress is not real news. CAP admits to its agenda and its lack of objectivity. CAP is hostile toward traditional American values and tries to replace them with its progressive ideals. CAP, like many liberal groups, ignores the many positive attributes of Southerners and relies on its liberal stereotype to reinforce hostility and prejudice against the South.
