Letter: No need to discipline fraternity for Kent State sign

Re: “LSU may discipline fraternity over Kent State sign”:

The LSU students who are part of DKE shouldn’t be punished for the Kent State sign that they hung in front of their fraternity house.

The fact that the sign is in poor taste does not matter, because the students have every right to hang any kind of sign they want.

But anyway, it isn’t news that there is an inappropriate sign hanging in front of DKE, as there have been many of those in the past. So what would be the reason to punish them this time?

And like Marjorie Esman was quoted in the article, they have a legal right to hang a sign in front of their fraternity house.
