Letter: City’s responsibility to enforce codes, permits

Regarding your recent story, “Dozens of T-shirts shops said to be operating illegally”: The T-shirt shops in the French Quarter have been ruining the image of this historical neighborhood. More than forty of the shops have been operating illegally, even after the city council voted to impose stricter laws on the shops.

Three years after the council passed the law, they have not done anything about it until now. With the 42 shops operating without the permits, it is the city’s responsibility to make sure that the French Quarter is restored with more historic features.
