Sep 11, 2013 07:02 Our Views: We always miss that one Our Views: We always miss that one Advocate story Sept. 11, 2013 Comments It wasn’t just for Patrick Reed that the young golfer, formerly a star at University High in Baton Rouge, hit a winning playoff birdie in the PGA Tour stop in Greensboro, N.C. No, he hit that 7-iron from an uphill lie, under a tree branch and away from the looming tree trunk. That is the kind of shot most of us who are mortal attempt all the time, because our drives go astray. But it’s also the kind of shot that we can’t make successfully. Reed won the Wyndham Championship when his second shot from behind the tree ended up seven feet from the pin. We congratulate Reed and welcome him to the elite winners’ circle on the tour. And thanks for showing us how it can be done, even if we can’t do it.
