Letter: Levee disaster still destroying landmarks

This is in reference to your June 18 story about the demolition of the iconic Dixie Brewery on Tulane Avenue.

As Federal Judge Martin Feldman is at this time unable/unwilling to save the brewery, it seems we’ll be losing one more irreplaceable New Orleans institution. Along with so many others in the song, we’ll be saying, “it ain’t there no more.”

The shame here is that, per The Advocate’s article, it “continued to operate in the aging structure until the post-Katrina levee failures inundated the city with flood waters.”

So here we are, so many years later, and we’re still losing things because of the failure of our levee protection system.
