Letter: July 4 reminds us of tyranny

This is a reminder of the birthday of our great country –— the Fourth of July. It all began when a few wise men realized that people should be free from a tyrannical type of governing power (England).

We must not forget how they formed a most brilliant, powerful and formidable type of government with two main themes: reverence to God and freedoms. Their Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776, launched how we have lived for these 237 years. But by reading it, one can quickly notice a threatening resemblance toward tyranny. At no time in our history has our government and way of life been more challenged and corrupted than by the present regime.

Before closing, I would like to print part of the Declaration of Independence:

“We hold these Truths to be self-evident that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among theses are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government.”

Protect our country — stay informed of action by the president, Congress and world around us. Our congressmen and senators need to hear from you. May God bless and keep us.
