Letter: Coverage shows anti-Catholic bias

How embarrassing as a Catholic to have Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi represent our country at Pope Francis’ installation Mass, as both are supporters of abortion.

The Advocate is not much better for continuing to print stories from the AP that are always written with a bias against the church.

Yesterday you published a column written by Eugene Robinson of the Washington Post which cleanly shows his bias and has no basis in fact.

The church used to pray for the conversion of Russia. We need to pray for the conversion of our own country.

Mr. Inabnet, like so many religious types, believes that the church - religion - is supposed to be immune from criticism. Any time a story is critical of their cult, they whine about christianity being under attack. The religious should feel grateful that there is not more negative stories about religion, given the utter stupidity of such beliefs and the nonsensical writings in their various "holy books." Perhaps if the various religions would quit trying to force their stupid beliefs on everyone, then there might not be as much negativity. Religion ruins everything.

This is stupid. Biden and Pelosi aren't supporters of abortion; they're supporters of choice. They're supporters of letting medical and health decisions be made by a woman and her doctor, not by politicians or the Pope. Oh, and I hate to break it to you, Joe, but we're already undergoing a religious conversion....it's just not going in the direction you'd like. But hey...keep praying. I'm sure it will be well worth your time.

For this non-Catholic, reading about recent events is a matter of receiving information. That pedophilia, male-dominance, political cowardice, fallibility, abuse, and other objects come into play is the result of predictable performance by selfish people--not a product of my mind or the reporter's mind. It seems to me Catholic readers should address the objective truth within before they approach others for attention and appreciation.>>>>Person to person, Mr. Inabnet expressed an attitude and prayer I adamantly oppose: no one should presume to convert anyone into religion, let alone a religion. Those who do suffer the consequences, not in the next world but in this one.

I'm not sure what'll qualify one as a Catholic expert, but I did go to catholic schools K-12, former catholic school teacher. I was a confirmed, regularly practicing catholic for many decades. I've read the Bible cover to cover many times over. I may not be an expert, but I'm not ignorant either.

Mr. Wallace, the topic was Catholicism. That would explain this cynical moralist's pinings on Catholicism. If it makes you feel any better all religions are ridiculous institutions. Including Islam. These people follow the word of God through these books rife with inaccuracies and contradictions. How can one be so certain that any of it is factual? If you want to believe in anything, believe in yourself. Fairy tales and withcraft? No thanks.

Isn't it something like 80 to 90 percent of catholics don't follow the church's edicts. Ah, yes. The murdering of babies hyperbole. But of course, the Catholic Church is against contraception. How many of you "catholics" or "christians" are going to take into your home the unwanted babies that were forced on good catholics because they could not use contraception. This whole religious thing is such a dismal joke. Hypocrisy, irrationality, intolerance, bigotry/hatred of others, and using the fear of "eternal damnation" to scare little kids into believing this tripe. Religion ruins everything. I'm "praying" for the day when all of this stupidity is a bad memory.

My, my; all these Catholic history experts; of course they know only what the media has told them. Let's remember that priests are human, so they have human failings. "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone." Let's also remember that they don't have a license to sin, but neither do they have a monopoly on it. I don't see any of these cynical moralists condemning Islamic clerics for anything at all; is that they're perfect or is that they are afraid to criticize one because he'll issue a fatwa and have him murdered while somebody videos the act?

You should be more embarrassed by the pedophile behavior of your priests. Maybe your cult church should pray on that.

Costume parties, magic spells, pedophelia, misogyny, idol worship, Latin, "catholic guilt." Why wouldn't everyone sign up?

@SuzanneMS, nice way to try to "split" hairs on definitions. If you are Pro Choice, you are for the right of women to MURDER their babies. THAT IS THE BOTTOMLINE!

Two-thirds of this country classify themselves as Christian. About half are Protestant and one quarter Catholic. Who are you praying to convert? As for Biden, he is next in line to be President and both he and Pelosi are Catholic I believe. A high honor for the religious head of an what was once considered an ancient cult.

And for the repeal of the First Amendment? All religions are fair game in a free and open society. The Mormons took it on the chin during the last presidential campaign. Besides which, Eugene Robinson appears on the editorial page. His column is not a "story." It is an opinion piece and clearly presented as such. The Advocate also published editorial columns by conservative writers. Neither Biden nor Pelosi "support abortion." They support choice, recognizing that there are situations in which a woman's life or health is in danger.

Boohoo. What a bunch of cry babies. If you people are certain you are doing God's work, who cares what us heathens think. The Catholic church is drying up in the developed world. I wonder why?

I agree with the writer of the letter. Biden and Pelosi are probably also against castrating young boys, burning witches, keeping women out of management positions, sexual abuse, and several other things in Catholic Church history.
