Letter: Shame on you, Sen. Vitter

In watching the news, I learned that the sequester is impacting our military National Guard personnel regarding tuition to college.

That is really sad, but what I heard after was just as bad. Sen. Mary Landrieu stated that she would try to work on alternatives, but Sen. David Vitter and Rep. Bill Cassidy stated that President Barack Obama made the problem, so he should fix it. This is sad that our congressional leaders are acting like 2-year-olds. President Obama did not break this on his own.

The fact that our elected officials put themselves in a position that impacts our country, not just our state, by saying he did it and I’m not going to try anything is stupid. What has our Congress come to? All of this partisanship that is happening is ridiculous at best.

Shame on Sen. Vitter. He is supposed to be a veteran in Congress and that’s all he’s got. I pray that some resolution and communication happens between these two torn parties. This is not helping our country or the world. Grow up!

Act like the adults you were voted to be for the people of Louisiana. The blame game is getting you nowhere but out of office, hopefully.

@unevahno: Pray tell what is the demographic of the National Guard? Speaking of logic, where is the logic in your genetic fallacy filled post? The trick in seeking to discredit your opposition is not to also discredit yourself in the process. -[**]- To quote a fictional Marine "Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!" It appears that what Ms. Breaux laments t isn't going to happen anyway. http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/senate-passes-government-funding-measure-house-to-vote-thursday/2013/03/20/a885cd2a-9010-11e2-9cfd-36d6c9b5d7ad_story.html

Great letter Rhonda. The personal attacks are from conservatives who hate certain demographics but have only the wit and wisdom of Rush, fox and David Duke, er, Vitter to lean on. Notice that they counter your facts and logic with the same talking points they've been using since fox first gave them out. Not one original thought, but after all, they are neither our best, nor our brightest. Keep up the good work, Rhonda.

Vitter is a disgrace.

Budget sequestration was first authorized by the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act of 1985 (BBEDCA, Title II of P.L. 99-177) -- known as the Gramm–Rudman–Hollings Act. It was supplanted by other plans and resurrected in 2011.

Anybody who actually believes the nonsense that is put out by this administration needs a wake-up call; anybody that pretends to believe in order to help them rip more taxpayer money from the few people who still pay taxes should be ashamed.

rhonda needs to watch more channels than MSNBC. the democrats have created the sequester situation by refusing to follow their own plans for budget restraint. to be a democrat must be tough. you wake up every morning knowing all you are going to do all day is lie. you had better hope there is no God otherwise your chance of seeing the so called "milk and honey" left with slim n none.

Congressional Republicans offered The President the authority to redirect the sequester cuts to something more palatable and easier to be absorbed. He refused. Could it be that he doesn't want to lead on this issue but would rather be able to complain about what others do or don't do? Also the sequester cuts do not reduce federal spending from the amount spent in the previous year. It only reduces HOW MUCH MORE $$ the federal government will spend this fiscal year than it did last year. If any budget item gets less this year than last, it is because the decision was made to redirect funds for whatever reason.

Ms. Breaux comments on this issue by viewing it through "Obama" glasses. As does Bighug, lovemykids, etc. Not surprising.

Rhonda, why would you expect anything different from Vitter. He has always acted like a spoiled miss behaving two year old.

Obama proposed the sequester and signed it into law. The Democrats hold the balance of power in the federal government that passed the sequester. Obama go his way, avoiding any real spending cuts, while increasing spending and getting his “taxes on the rich.” Once the sequester became law Obama had plenty of options among all of Washington’s wasteful spending, instead he chose to “make the sequester cuts hurt.” Speaking of the blame game, we have seen four years of it from the person in charge in the white house. His lemmings are repeating Obama’s lies.

Vitter has spent more time clogging the works than doing his job of helping us.

18) Comment by ScotB - 18/03/2013

Seriously? The Democratically controlled Senate has not passed a budget in four years and you hold Vitter accountable for the sequester that President Obama dreamed up? The House has sent countless budgets to the Senate that Harry Reid has never even allowed to come to a vote! This letter is demogoguery in its purest form I must say! Call it blame if you will or call it assigning responsibility for a situation, but our kids and grandkids will be indentured servants to the federal government to pay for outlandish spending that our generation is letting happen.
