An ugly orange-and-white construction barricade sits along the edge of Claycut Road between South Foster Drive and Caddo Street, in the vicinity of a nasty pothole on Claycut. I’m grateful for the warning, but the use of a barricade in this particular situation seems inappropriate and ineffective. The pothole has been there for months, and it is time for this cavern to be filled.
On a similar note, I have noticed the clever use of black polysheeting to cover obsolete road signs around town. It’s an eyesore even when the polysheeting is new, but once it becomes raggedy, it’s an embarrassment. If the sign is obsolete, such as the sign at the intersection of Claycut and Greenside Lane, remove it! Why was this sign erected in the first place?
