Letter: Children from Russia take on debt

Anyone really want to know why Russian President Vladimir Putin doesn’t want to send Russian children to the United States?

Well, I don’t think it would be too far-fetched to believe he really wants them to have a chance to start out life debt-free and not slaves to a people that have overspent and overused their heritage.

Since our American “goodies” programs and foreign-aid largesse have skyrocketed, every American citizen now has a $52,000. share of the national debt. Each and every new citizen — illegal, adopted or naturalized — has to share that debt, and Putin, knowing that Americans are prepared to share that debt, is well aware that the Russian children will be saddled with this burden that these American politicians are now multiplying exponentially into the future.

Any child of Russia will be expected to pay off his share of this debt. The more people America can entice to become citizens, the less real Americans will have to pay.

Tell me President Barack Obama isn’t a slick one.

Putin doesn't want to send children here because he is a communist and a socialist. And like all communists and socialists, whether they live here or over there, hate America and want to destroy it. Plain and simple.

This is stupid. This had nothing to do with U.S. debt...at all. It was retaliation for the passage of the Magnitsky Act. He doesn't think it is "too far-fetched to be believed"? Just goes to show you...people will believe anything if it confirms their previously held political beliefs.

And of course, it couldn't be the fact that Russia is losing population, could it? Internal estimates in Russia suggest that native Russian people will not be having children at a rate high enough to replace those native Russians dying. Not a good thing, long term.

I had to look at the calendar quickly to see if it was April 1, rather than January 1. In addtion to being a retired fisherman, Mr. Allen is quite the satirist. I got a good New Year's laugh out of this one. Thanks.

BigMike...a few days ago I wrote of our nation's debt as being "like a spoiled teenager with daddy's credit card at the mall." If you are going to copy get it the entire comment...dday and 1ryben are right in asking, why was this letter printed?

I can't believe the advocate would print such foolishness.

What a ridiculous piece of foolishness. Maybe Mr.Allen, since he's retired and we can assume has a little free time, should read about the topics for which he opines. Taken from Slate.com "It is in retaliation for a U.S. law that targeted corrupt Russian officials who had a connection to the imprisonment and death of Sergei Magnitsky, a lawyer and whistle- blower who had uncovered a massive tax fraud implicating senior Russian officials and police officers."

How long did it take you to come up with this original thought of yours? I guess you forgot about slick W's contributions to this debt? If the President is slick, then perhaps you are the sick one - what an imagination you have. Besides there are countless American children waiting to be adopted. Perhaps these childless couples should look into adopting these children instead of trying to get trophy babies from other countries...look at me, see what I have.

Its too bad that nobody wants to cut spending. Lets just spend like a teenager with their daddy's credit card. All that dog & pony show in DC is good for is distracting the ignorant from the real deal. Smoke & mirrors doesn't change math.....
