It’s been a tough 2012 football season for the Jaguars of Southern University, but a win in the Bayou Classic against home-state rival Grambling State University gave the team a bit of a lift.
The 4-7 season for the Jags included a couple of particularly heartbreaking losses and saw the departure of Coach Stump Mitchell. But the team redeemed itself on national television in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome with the dramatic 38-33 win over Grambling. Both teams have statewide followings, and both have struggled this year, but the Bayou Classic remains a great football event.
We congratulate the Jags on their victory, and hope for their future success on the gridiron.
