Letters: Politicians accomplish nothing

I owe the United States Congress an apology for contending that they are a horde of ne’er-do-wells accomplishing absolutely nothing in regard to the impending tax issue.

The U.S. House of (mis)Representatives and the United States Senate are working themselves to the point of exhaustion at accomplishing absolutely nothing.

To work as hard as they do at failing the general population is not an easy thing to do, and I should acknowledge their hard work. They have worked their fingers to the bone, and their brains are fried from the endless effort it has taken to get nothing done on the tax issue.

I have known people who were really bad at their jobs, and I hate to admit that I voted for some of the same types to (mis)represent me at the federal level of government. I would say that they should go back to doing what they were doing before they entered politics, but then they’d be just as inept in the private sector and someone else would have to fix the messes they made.

The fiscal cliff is getting closer and the middle class will end up literally paying for the politicians’ dismal failure unless they miraculously enact legislation that actually serves American taxpayers properly.

@Tradewinns: do you consider yourself to be a Christian? Is so, then how does your hatred of the poor (past or present) square with the teachings of Christ?

i believe the cliff is the best thing for the nation. however the low life politicians will not allow the cuts to stand. they will increase the taxes and the spending. I use to hate the poor (cause i have joined them) but now i hate politicians as much, maybe more!!

The fiscal "cliff" consists of drastic spending cuts and expiration of the Bush tax cuts, right? Wouldn't this begin to improve our debt situation? Maybe the best thing they can do is nothing... I predict they'll find a way to punt on it, like they did last time.

you should understand that doing nothing and thereby increasing taxes on everyone IS the plan from both parties! they will then have more money to waste AND be able to blame the each other for it. there is nothing lower than a politician, any politician.

Our Senator Vitter is probably the worst of the lot. Look at how many times he has been in the news for blocking something just because his party didn't sponsor the item or person. We would be better off just leaving him to his paid women.
