Letter: GOP, Jindal evolving strangely

I see where Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal made the following quote to Politico: “The GOP needs to stop being the stupid party.” Asked for elaboration, Jindal explained that the party needs to appeal to more voters and stay away from bizarre, offensive comments that damage the brand.

This observation coming from a governor who ran all over the country saying, “President Obama is the most-incompetent president to occupy the White House since Jimmy Carter, and I mean no offense to Mr. Carter when I say that.”

This coming from a governor who found time to, while supposedly attempting to assist GOP candidate Mitt Romney get elected with his”bizarre, offensive” Barack Obama commentary, found plenty of time to ride along in a bus caravan in Iowa to try to convince Iowa voters to oust a sitting state judge who openly supports liberal positions such as gay marriage rights. That effort, incidentally, failed, and I see where numerous letters were supplied to The Advocate from Iowa residents chastising our governor for his role in the effort, which I feel certain entailed “bizarre, offensive” commentary on Gov. Jindal’s part.

Perhaps Romney isn’t the Republican who should be awarded the grand prize for reinventing himself on the fly in debates. Perhaps we’ve had the winner of that award in our own state of Louisiana (when Gov. Jindal chooses to visit us from time to time) and just never knew it! Wow! What a party the GOP has evolved into!

It was sweet poetic justice that allowed for Jimmy Carter's grandson to have a part in publicizing Romney's 47% video. Payback is a..well...you know....

How can Bobby Jindal criticize his own party when he is the face of its corruption? He spent the campaign with his nose in other states' business and raising money for the "stupid" party instead of finding ways to fund education and health care in his own state. He actually tried to help Iowa get rid of same sex marriage when he should have been promoting equal rights in Louisiana. He moaned about federal money being cut with his right hand while rejecting Early Education money and losing the grant for technology in the rural areas as well as refusing to work with the rules of Obamacare so we could get off the top of the cancer death list and the AIDS list while accepting stimulus funds with his left. Bobby Jindal is an absolute, unadulterated HYPOCRITE. Yes, he wants to change the Republican party. But what he wants is COSMETIC SURGERY, a new and more appealing face for the GOP. He does not want any real change. He just wants to put an attractive bandaid over the gangrene and cancer that it is and then, when it is back in power, continue the damage it has done to America for the last 30 years. Louisiana, of all places, must spread the word to the rest of America. DON'T TRUST PYUSH JINDAL. It is time for those who are blessed with Internet service to start spreading the word and to continue persistently until the next election to soil its name. After all, with his cuts to the libraries, a lot of people soon will not have access, so everyone needs to get started.

Jimmy Carter was not incompetent and neither is Barrack Obama. They are both Christians following the walk of Christ which is contrary from the agenda of the Republican Party. That is why conservatives like neither of them. Remember Carter negotiated Iran-Contra, even though that puppet Reagan got the credit for it and he has done much more since he left office. Obama is saving the American economy and giving us health care. Millions of Americans are back at work thanks to Obama. Republicans are about to have to pay their share of the taxes. But since they don't understand the lesson of Sodom and Gommorah (Ezekiel Chapter 13) and why they were destroyed, their pompous, not caring, not helping the poor, prideful, idol worshipping selves are on a downhill run just like those two cities were. They need to come out of themselves and their hate churches and turn off FAUX news and turn to Jesus.

Whatnow...I really don't have any particular dog in the political fight and am not defending or opposing anyone based on party affiliation. Stop trying to stir things up by acting like a nyah-nyahing idiot. I simply despise stupidity and hypocrisy, whether it has a "D" an "R" or any other letter of the alphabet attached to it. You have yourself a great day now.

Bouncer: But sadly, I believe that Obama could still be elected by the citizens of this country, even after he has revealed himself, time and again, to be a political opportunist who cares nothing for the country and its residents. And therein lies the tragedy of America. See? It can be used on both sides.

It amazes me how an individual of any political persuasion who is even moderately informed of political happenings in this state and the country can continue to defend Piyush Jindal.

reduction in government size , payroll . the state is not in bankruptcy like others . while I don't agree with everything the governor does sometimes tough decisions have to be made , these will always upset someone .

Great letter. Today's GOP and Mr. Jindal are case studies in "Intelligent Design."

Happy black Friday! “President Obama is the most-incompetent president to occupy the White House since Jimmy Carter, and I mean no offense to Mr. Carter when I say that.” I agree, Governor Jindal.

It appears that some on the left are treating Jindal like some on the right are treating Obama, with the name calling and disparaging remarks. At least no one are calling them racist and haters of people conceived in another country. Heck if you do, Heck is you don't.

i think he could be re-elected if he could run even thought it is apparent that this man could not give 2 **its about anyone but himself or anyone's family but his own.

spqr....I agree with your first comment and your third comment. But sadly, I believe that he could still be elected by the citizens of this state, even after he has revealed himself, time and again, to be a political opportunist who cares nothing for the state and its residents. And therein lies the tragedy of Louisiana.

Mr. Burns, you seem to forget that Jindal was speaking to what he himself calls the "stupid party." He knows his listeners have already forgotten everything he's said in the past, the same way they all forgot how utterly and incredibly wrong they were about Saddam Hussein's "WMD" programs and a host of other bogus claims made by their shepherds.

I was going to comment, but the three previous comments said it all.

Piyush is such a hypocrite. He would never win another election in this state. Political trash.

18) Comment by Bouncer - 23/11/2012

Let's not forget also that he has promoted the teaching of creationist nonsense in the science classroom. Oh, and he also dragged out his beads and crucifixes and participated in the exorcism of a female friend in a dorm room. Stupid party. Check.

They don't "believe" in evolution. It must be something else then.
