Letter: Ethics and morality upside down

There is an amazing similarity concerning those who have no hesitancy in destroying expectant human life by abortion as something not subject to any fundamental human principle at all, and those who at the same time for political reasons support the able voters who prefer to live on the public dole, all of which is used in the quest for the advantage of electability.

The movement of a society’s civil life from God to purely personal gratifications is directly proportionate to the breakdown of the civility of the life of a civilization (e.g. the burden of murder of innocent people on a city’s streets). Please read the history books of our nation and the current newspapers.

Gary, Really? Your suggesting their exists a moral equivalency between abortion and death penalty, the innocent and the guilty. Nonsense.

Religion is the ultimate form of self-gratification. What a creepy letter.

god is always a convient tool to use to support one's personal agenda.

If there is such an "amazing similarity," the opposite is also every bit as interesting ... the sheer number of citizens who care pretty much only for the unborn. Except, that is, the unborn in the countries they feel they need to bomb. But for the sake of argument, LoCoco, please support with facts the direct proportion you claim. And one more thing, your civil life being wrapped around God IS personal gratification.

Amen to that, unevahno. It seems that most of those claiming the principles taught by their "God" are for the best haven't really read their bible closely.

We have read the history (though not the "history" taught in Louisiana schools) and your kind claimed at one time or another that your "God" hated gays and blacks. Your "God" also said, according to you, that women were to be "obedient" and "subservient" to men.Blaming the "God" in your head doesn't add gravitas to your opinion.
