Letter: Pull out of Afghanistan

Re: “Insider attacks eroding military unity,” The Advocate, Oct. 1.

It’s bad enough that we can’t tell the enemy in Afghanistan due to their blending in with the public, now we have to deal with American-trained soldiers that turn around and shoot Americans.

It is time the government pulled our troops out 100 percent. They don’t want us, we don’t need them. I’m sick and tired of the warmongers in Washington placing the United States in countries that don’t want us.

Agree. We need to get out of Afghanistan immediately. A week or so ago, it was announced that 2000 troops have been killed. By now, it is surely a dozen or so higher. That is outrageous. We are accomplishing nothing over there. •••• What I find just as outrageous is that in this comment section a couple of weeks ago there were those who were incensed that 4 people at one of our embassies were killed. They tried to use the deaths of those people to turn that into some ridiculous political statement. I don't see them commenting here about 2000+ troops dead and thousands more wounded and crippled. I guess they think that soldiers are expendable in a worthless war.

I agree 100%. Get out & get out NOW! No need in seeing any more flag-draped caskets coming home from there.....

Indeed. Let's get out! Support the troops; bring them home.

We should get out; Obama made a huge mistake when he tried to emulate the success of the "surge strategy" by using it in Afghanistan while at the same time trying to win hearts and minds, which is ludicrous. Rules of engagement that favored the enemy is never smart. Remember, before anything else you have to win. Only after total victory and the enemy admits defeat can the victor be merciful, generous, etc. Kissing up to the enemy before that happens is just a sign of weakness to the enemy.

I agree with the letter and tradewinns. Whether we leave now or in ten years, the results will be the same. They will return to the way things were before we got into the war.

clay, you're right. we need to allow them to live as they desire. if they step on american toes, use a few cruise missiles to blow whoever is in charge to their version of kingdom come. then wait and see who the next person to rule feels about leaving america alone.
