Letters: Sports headline wasn’t derogatory

I read with interest the “Readers’ Views” letter from Janet Daniel. I disagree with her view that The Advocate printed a rude and derogatory depiction of Towson State University in the game of football.

The general rule in newsprint is to state the truth and state the facts. I have had the good fortune to travel to different places in the United States and read different newspapers. I must say that The Advocate is one of the best, if not the best paper for printing accuracy that I have had the pleasure to read.

The sports section being the best in the nation hands down. Scott Rabalais is one of the fairest and most knowledgeable sports writers I have ever read. What he wrote was a true depiction of an upcoming football game and not meant to be derogatory. And gave LSU all it could handle.

The LSU sports fans are the best in the country, barring the evil few. So Daniel should be fair and think about what Rabalais wrote. Do we want objective or fantasy?
