Letters: Sometimes, bureaucracy has its attractions

I note with interest that the United States Environmental Protection Agency will be aiding in assessing the dangers induced by the presumed collapse of the Napoleonville Dome (The Advocate, Aug. 25, p. 4B).

I’m confused. I thought we wanted to get these Washington bureaucrats off the backs of the people and let private industry (e.g., the Texas Brine Company, LLC) solve all our problems.

Am I wrong? Do we suddenly like Washington bureaucrats? Or maybe we just like them when we need them.

Yes, the EPA...established by that lefty pinko, Richard Nixon. It's pathetic to see what's happened to the Republican Party in my lifetime. Pathetic and sad.

Unfortunately, without the historical Federal " "help" ", Louisiana would be a vastly more miserable place than it already is. Is the cluelessness a result of the fine Louisiana uneducation or is it inbred?

Norwood has probably never been on the receiving end of EPA "help". Their "help" will encompass nothing more than loosing a horde of fault finders and giving a grant of taxpayer money to one of their sycophants to "study" the situation and arrive at the proper conclusion, i.e. more power and oversight by the EPA is needed.

David, how do you get that the EPA is welcomed ? They may not be needed and may not help in this situation. They may hinder with more 'red tape' Do not jump to conclusions prof.

David, how true - here in the Gulf Coast region - La, MS, Ala and Fla - we will need all the help from the "Washington Bureaucrats" they can provide. Wonder where the R's and Tea Party crowd will want to cut the budget to provide the "help" for three of the republican controlled states?
