Our Views: Image from winters past

We pause this hot, hot summer to bring you a small image from winters past. The other day, we spotted an old gas space heater being offered at an area rummage sale as a collectible. The picture reminded us of how quickly time passes when such a homely thing as a space heater can now be considered as a kind of antique.

One can still purchase a new gas space heater, although they are not nearly so common as they used to be in this age of central heating and air. We are, quite frankly, happy that space heaters aren’t used as much as they once were. They carry special hazards. But spotting that space heater in a summer newspaper gave us a little winter chill. That’s not such a bad thing when the thermometer outside hovers near or above 100 degrees.
