Letter: Thanks for story on air quality standards
Thank you for the opportunity to comment on Amy Wold’s article regarding the EPA’s raising the minimum air quality standards for the greater Baton Rouge area.
It’s great to see that our air continues to improve while disappointing to see that the feds keep moving the target.
Two suggestions:
Give us a non-moving target with realistic, attainable goals and renew the tax credits for alternative fuels such as propane and natural gas so that we can build an infrastructure based on these clean-burning, efficient auto fuels.
Imagine the improvement in air quality if just 25 percent of the government’s fleet vehicles ran on propane or natural gas — not to mention the overall savings to taxpayers.
Thanks for your coverage of the problem and the opportunity you offer us to discuss the solutions.
