Letter: What will Jindal, gurus do with empty fund?

As I understand it Gov. Bobby Jindal’s fiscal mismanagement (no plans for raising state revenue, the continuation of lucrative corporate tax breaks, the repeal of the Stelly Plan etc.) could force the state to dip into the “raining day fund” to cover the present year’s budget short fall and to plug gaps in next year’s proposed operating budget.

I have one question for “King Bobby”and his legislative “yes” men. How do they plan to replenish the “state’s rainy day fund”?

I hope the legislators in Baton Rouge will muster enough courage to demand a fiscal plan from the governor’s financial gurus to address this issue, but if past behavior is any indication, they will just rubber stamp whatever Jindal presents to them.

My only question to Jindal is with all new state employees joining the new cash plan (401 K like) system, how will the current state workers have their retirements funded? Planned destruction.

Jindal's a Republican. His plan for replenishing the rainy day fun is as follows: someone else will do it. He can run for president by saying he kept taxes low and cut spending. Both are true. What he won't mention is how he gut higher education and health care in order to keep taxes low for ExxonMobil.

Oh, don't worry, Jim. The "free market" will take care of everything.

If they don't rubber-stamp his proposals, they will get fired, thereby saving some money.
