Town engineer Kiley Bates, of Spangler Engineering, said existing sidewalks will be removed and replaced around the school. The new sidewalks will run down each side of the school and tie into the sidewalk on Eleventh Avenue. The work will be funded through a federal grant administered by the state. Bates said the Washington Parish town’s only costs will be for engineer and inspection fees. Bates estimates construction will begin within six months and the work will take about 60 to 90 days to complete. The cost is estimated as $190,000.
