N.O. police search for purse snatcher

New Orleans police searched Sunday for a man who complimented a woman on her looks and then snatched her clutch purse from her hand and ran off.

The victim, who was walking back to her hotel in the 300 block of St. Charles Street at 12:22 a.m. when the theft occurred, tried to chase the man but could not catch him, Officer Frank Robertson III said.

The thief is described as a thin, dark-skinned black man who is between 25 and 30 years old and is about 5 feet, 10 inches tall.

Man robs gas station cashier at gunpoint

New Orleans police are seeking the public’s help in locating a man who robbed a Shell Gas Station cashier at gunpoint in the 3000 block of General DeGaulle Drive.

The robber walked into the gas station at 7:14 a.m. Wednesday, pulled out a handgun and demanded money. After the cashier gave him the money, he escaped on foot toward Sandra Drive, Officer Frank Robertson III said.
