Police seeking felon who dropped gun

New Orleans police searched Saturday for a convicted felon who allegedly dropped a stolen gun while running from an officer after a traffic stop.

Robert E. Robinson, 29, was stopped in the 3000 block of Bienville Street at about 11:05 a.m. and while he was running, he pulled out a handgun from his waistband and dropped it before eluding the officer who was pursuing his, Officer Garry Flot said.

Robinson is wanted on counts of felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm and flight from an officer.

Police described Robinson as a 5-foot-10-inch black male, weighing about 150 pounds who was last seen wearing blue jeans and white tank top shirt.

Police found Robinson’s ID in the car and a police dog found the gun.

Man steals cash register in Quarter

New Orleans police searched Saturday for a man seen in a surveillance video stealing money from a cash register at a restaurant Wednesday at 4:10 a.m. in the 800 block of Royal Street.

The man, wearing a navy blue colored shirt and blue jeans, was seen on footage placing the cash drawer into a black garbage can and walking down Gravier and Baronne streets with the can in tow, Officer Garry Flot said.
