The board of the New Orleans Planning Commission met for three hours in a closed session on Thursday but failed to make a decision on whether or not to appoint an interim executive director.
The board, which helps shape the city’s development, voted to fire long-time Executive Director Yolanda Rodriguez earlier this week.
Bob Rivers, an official who works in the City Attorney’s Office, was in and out of the meeting several times.
Board chairman Craig Mitchell confirmed that Rivers is a candidate for the job.
But the board ultimately avoided making a decision, instead setting another meeting for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday to discuss the search process for a new leader.
Whoever gets the job, the decision is likely to be influenced heavily by Mayor Mitch Landrieu, who has now appointed six of the board’s nine members.
