NEW ORLEANS — A live power line fell on a school bus Tuesday morning but did not injure any of the elementary school students on board, police said.
The school bus was near Ursulines Avenue and North Derbigny Street when the line snapped about 8 a.m., said officer Garry Flot, a New Orleans Police Department spokesman. The line caused a nearby tree to catch on fire before it landed on the school bus as it passed the corner, Flot said.
The bus stopped and the seven schoolchildren and driver remained on board until Entergy crews arrived to removed the wire.
New Orleans paramedics checked the students and driver but found no injuries, Flot said.
The bus then continued on to the school where it was headed. Police did not say what school the students attended.
