Deputies seek Metairie burglar

Jefferson Parish sheriff’s investigators are searching for a man they say burglarized a Metairie home Monday.

A video surveillance system on the home in the 1000 block of Hesper Avenue recorded the alleged burglar and his car about 11 a.m, said Col. John Fortunato, a Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

The man in the video is white, between 25 and 30 years old, with a medium built, short hair and is about 6 feet tall, Fortunato said.

The car investigators believe he used a silver 1992-1994 Ford Crown Victoria with the right side of its hood partially propped up or damaged.

Mother booked
with child desertion

A 24-year-old Marrero woman was booked Tuesday with chid desertion after a Jefferson Parish sheriff’s deputy found her 3-year-old son wandering alone near Ames Boulevard and Carrie Lane.

Taryn Laborde told deputies her son must have unlocked the door while she was sleeping.

Central City shooting victim identified

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office has identified a man killed as he drove Tuesday night in Central City.

Sadiki Navarre, 24, of New Orleans, died from multiple gunshot wounds after someone shot him about 7 p.m. at South Claiborne Avenue and Earhart Boulevard, said John Gagliano, the coroner’s chief investigator.

Paramedics pronounced Navarre dead on the scene.

Police have not released any information on a suspect or motive.

Police make arrests, seek man in killing

Police have arrested a man and his wife in connection with a Monday night homicide and continue to look for a “person of interest” in the case.

Police allege Jamal Miller, 30, fatally shot Michael Johnson, 28, during an argument in the 14000 block of Willowbrook Drive in eastern New Orleans about 8 p.m.

Police booked Miller on a count of second-degree murder. His wife, Santell Larkins, 27, was booked with accessory after the fact to second-degree murder.

Investigators named Eric “Black E” Harrison, 30, as a “person of interest” in Johnson’s death since he might have information about the incident.

Kenner man accused of stealing money

A Kenner man was arrested on 14 counts of theft of a firearm and 14 counts of possession of stolen property after he allegedly stole money and guns from his former place of employment.

Andrew Williams, 32, is accused of stealing more than $40,000 from Jefferson Gun Outlet in Metairie through fraudulent credit card transactions during a four-month period last year, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities also believe Williams stole more than a dozen guns from a secured room at the business. It wasn’t clear if kept them or sold them.
