North Shore in Slidell awarded registered nurse Rebecca Eaton with the DAISY Award in recognition of the outstanding patient care she provides.
Eaton has been with the hospital for five years and works in the Med/Surg department. She was nominated for the honor by a patient who wrote, “Becky went beyond her requirements when it came to make me more comfortable and helping me with ongoing issues I had post-surgery. She’s a wonderful nurse and a better person to the nth degree.”
Ochsner North Shore Chief Executive Officer Polly Davenport said Eaton embodies what it means to be a nurse in the way she anticipates the patients’ need and demonstrates respect for the patient and their family.
DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System.
The Foundation was formed in January 2000 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died at age 33 of complications of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura. Because of the skillful and compassionate care he received from his nurses, his family created the DAISY Award for extraordinary nurses to recognize the work nurses provide throughout the country.
