Immaculate Conception School in Marrero celebrated “Halloween in Summer” on June 20. Campers came to camp dressed in costume, and many took part in a watermelon carving contest.
The first session of the camp concludes with the performance of a modified version of the musical production “Beauty and the Beast” at 1 p.m. Friday in the Academy of Our Lady gymnasium at 537 Avenue D in Marrero. Admission is nonperishable food items.
“The food will be donated to the Immaculate Conception Parish St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank,” Coach Scott Walker, camp director, said. “Food banks usually experience shortages during the summer and this is the ICS Charger way of giving back.”
ICS Summer Camp will hold a second session of camp from July 8 -26. The highlight of the session two is “Christmas in July” when the camp filled with the sights, sounds and smells of the season as well as a visitor from the North Pole.
