FUNDRAISER FOR FESTIVAL IS FRIDAY: Gentilly Fest 2013 will host a fundraiser on Friday at UNO Alumni Center, 2000 Lakeshore Drive. Tickets are $20. There will be a cash bar and complimentary hors d’oeuvres, while supply lasts. The fundraiser is from 8 p.m. to midnight with Captain Charles as the DJ.

SALE AT ENCORE: The Encore Shop, a resale clothing boutique operated by Friends of the Symphony, has such a terrific selection of trendy sun dresses, cute tops and accessories in stock that the manager has decided to have a midsummer sale, according to Friends member Barbara Sands.

The store has planned major reductions, which means the affordable clothing will be even more so.

The sale will be Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The shop is located at 7814 Maple St. in the Riverbend area.

ROARING TWENTIES PARTY: The Junior Committee of the Women’s Guild of the New Orleans Opera Association holds its Roaring 20s Summer Party, “A Speakeasy in the Big Easy,” with champagne punch, bathtub gin and yummy, 1920s treats, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on July 26 at the Opera Guild Home, 2504 Prytania St., New Orleans.

“OLIVER!” AT ST. PIUS X: The St. Pius Players will present “Oliver!” the musical at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and July 26-28 at the St. Pius X gym, 6600 Spanish Fort Blvd. There will also be matinees Sunday and July 28 at 2 p.m.

The play stars Luke Singleton as the Artful Dodger, Jack Quarles Jr. as Fagin and Kayne Weir as Oliver. Jessica Perilloux and Rachel Becker share the role of Nancy, and Danea Exterstein and Caroline Allen play Bet.
