METAIRIE — On April 14, Healthy Lifestyle Choices hosted the inaugural Run for Health, a 2-mile walk/run at LaSalle Park Walking Track on Airline Drive in Metairie.
After the run, participants gathered to cheer on the New Orleans Zephyrs as they took on the Round Rock Express.
Sponsored by Sam’s Club, UnitedHealthcare, Semolina and Capital One, the Run for Health benefited local education nonprofit Healthy Lifestyle Choices, which provides behavioral health education curriculum to schools throughout the country, including many schools in the greater New Orleans area.
Sam’s Club sponsored 50 local teachers and administrators from Orleans and Jefferson parishes to participate in the race. At the Run For Health starting line, Sam’s Club presented Healthy Lifestyle Choices with a check for $40,000 toward behavioral health programming. Healthy Lifestyle Choices programming reaches 65 percent of school children in the greater New Orleans area.
