New Orleans students to present original plays

One-act plays written by New Orleans fifth- and seventh-graders will be presented by five local, professional theater producers at Goat in the Road Productions’ fourth annual Play/Write Showcase at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Dillard University’s Cook Theatre, 2601 Gentilly Blvd.

Cripple Creek Theatre Co., Dillard Theatre Ensemble, Junebug Productions, NEW NOISE, and Night Light Collective will perform the plays.

This is the second year that Goat in the Road Productions and Dillard University’s Theatre Program have partnered for the showcase, a culmination of 11 weeks of playwriting classes taught by GRP teaching artists to 110 students at St. Mary’s Academy, Success Preparatory Academy and the International School.

Goat In the Road Productions is a New Orleans-based performance ensemble, dedicated to the production of original and invigorating new works or theater, dance, performance art, and educational programming.

The Goats are Chris Kaminstein, Rachel Carrico, Shannon Flaherty and Will Bowling.

Tickets are $10 at the door or online at http://www.goatintheroadproductions.org.
