Champagne toasts raised to Dooky Chase

Dooky Chase Restaurant was the sentimental setting of the 85th birthday of Edgard “Dooky” Chase Jr. on March 23.

Benefiting the Musical Arts Society of New Orleans and the Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans’ Ladies in Red, lunch was provided by Dooky Chase Restaurant and included bottles of champagne.

Attendees included Musical Arts Society boardmembers Mary Lee Murphy, Dee Club, John Yarborough and MASNO co-founder Julianne Nice; MASNO Executive Director Daniel Weilbaecher; PRC Executive Director; Patricia Gay; PRC Development Director Beverly Lamb; and PRC boardmember Gaynell Lawrence.

Also in attendance were Katharine and Tony Gelderman, Quint Davis, Mignon Faget and Jule Lang.

Chase’s family has musical and artistic talent as well as the famed culinary ability behind Dooky Chase restaurant, where his wife, Leah, is the chef. At the birthday party, Chase taught attendees his original song, “Love Comes Straight from Your Heart,” and tangos were performed by Cara McCool on piano, Eric Lucero on trumpet and Anthony Cuccia on percussion.
