New Orleans library news for Dec. 27, 2012

There will be a celebration of Kwanzaa at 11 a.m. Saturday at the African American Resource Center on the second floor of the Main Library, 219 Loyola Ave.

Basketball team visits

College players have plenty to do year-round, practicing and serving as good role models for younger athletes and students.

The Ole Miss Lady Rebels basketball team will visit the New Orleans Public Library’s Central City Branch at 10 a.m. Wednesday to demonstrate their basketball skills on the court of the Mahalia Jackson Center. The library is at 2405 Jackson Ave.

The players also will read stories to children.

Libraries close for New Year

New Orleans public libraries will be closed for the holiday on Monday and Tuesday.
